Wedding Music FAQ

Planning your perfect wedding soundtrack? Here are answers to the questions couples ask most often about booking a professional vocalist and pianist for their San Diego wedding.

Booking & Investment

How much does a wedding vocalist/pianist cost in San Diego?

Wedding vocalist and pianist rates in San Diego typically range from $500 to $3000+, depending on several factors:

  • Length of performance (ceremony only vs. full reception)
  • Day of week and time of year
  • Travel distance from San Diego
  • Additional services (DJ, duo/trio, special arrangements)

I prefer to discuss your vision and budget directly to create a custom package that provides the best value for your celebration. Every wedding is unique, and I believe in transparent, flexible pricing that works for both of us.

How far in advance should I book?

Popular wedding dates (especially Saturdays from May through October) often book 12-18 months in advance. However, I sometimes have availability for shorter notice bookings. I recommend reaching out as soon as you have your date and venue confirmed. Your date is secured with a signed contract and deposit.

Do you travel outside San Diego?

Absolutely! I regularly perform throughout Southern California including Orange County, Los Angeles, Temecula Wine Country, and Palm Springs. I also love destination weddings and have performed in Napa Valley, Hawaii, Mexico, and beyond. Travel costs are included in your custom quote.

Music Selection & Repertoire

What songs can you perform for my wedding ceremony?

As a vocalist who plays piano, I specialize in bringing emotional depth to your ceremony through both singing and instrumental performances:

  • Romantic Ballads & Classics: "Con Te Partirò", "Unchained Melody", "Can't Help Falling in Love", "She's Got a Way"
  • Latin & International: "Sabor a Mi", "Amo Soltanto Te" - bringing authentic emotion to these timeless pieces
  • Duets with Soprano: "The Prayer", "All I Ask of You", "Amo Soltanto Te" - creating magical moments with talented vocal partners
  • Contemporary Favorites: "Perfect" (Ed Sheeran), "Thinking Out Loud" (Ed Sheeran), "All of Me" (John Legend), "Make You Feel My Love" (Bob Dylan/Adele), "Your Song" (Elton John)
  • Piano Instrumentals: Beautiful arrangements of your favorite songs when instrumental music is preferred

Whether you want powerful vocals for your processional or gentle piano for the unity ceremony, I'll create the perfect musical moments.

Can you help us choose our ceremony music?

Of course! As a full-time professional musician, I'm happy to suggest music that fits your style and ceremony flow. I'll provide recommendations for:

  • Prelude music (as guests arrive)
  • Processional (wedding party entrance)
  • Bride's entrance
  • Unity ceremony or special moments
  • Recessional (your grand exit!)

I'll send you my full song list after booking, and we can discuss options during our planning consultation.

Do you take requests during cocktail hour or reception?

Yes! I love taking requests and have an extensive repertoire. From Sinatra to Bruno Mars, Beatles to Beyoncé, I can play most popular songs on the spot. It's always fun when guests are surprised to hear their favorite song played live on piano.

Equipment & Setup

Do you provide your own piano and sound equipment?

Yes, I provide all necessary equipment including:

  • Professional 88-key weighted digital piano
  • Elegant mini-grand piano shell (see photo)
  • Full PA system sized appropriately for your venue
  • Professional lighting system to create beautiful ambiance
  • Wireless microphones for announcements or sing-alongs
  • All cables, stands, and accessories

For venues with a quality acoustic piano, I'm always happy to play their instrument. For outdoor ceremonies, I have battery-powered options to perform anywhere.

How much space and time do you need for setup?

I typically need a 6' x 4' space for my setup. I arrive 60-90 minutes before the performance to set up and sound check, ensuring everything is perfect before your guests arrive. My equipment is professional but unobtrusive, designed to complement your venue's aesthetics.

What about outdoor weddings? Weather concerns?

I perform at outdoor weddings regularly! My digital piano handles temperature variations well, though it does need shade from direct sunlight and protection from rain. Most couples have a tent or covered area as backup. For beach weddings, I have special equipment that handles the unique challenges of sand and ocean breeze.

Services & Add-Ons

Do you offer DJ services too?

Yes! Many couples book me for piano during ceremony and cocktail hour, then DJ services for dinner and dancing. This provides seamless entertainment throughout your event with one vendor. I can also alternate between live piano and DJ sets during the reception for variety.

Can you work with other musicians or singers?

Absolutely! I regularly perform with:

  • String musicians (violin, cello, string quartets)
  • Vocalists for duets or to accompany solo performers
  • Percussionists for added rhythm and energy
  • Guitarists for acoustic duo performances

I have a network of excellent musicians I work with regularly, or I'm happy to collaborate with musicians you've chosen.

What's typically included in your wedding packages?

While every package is customized, most include:

  • Unlimited email/phone consultations
  • Help with song selection and timeline
  • Professional sound system
  • Liability insurance
  • Backup equipment
  • Formal attire matching your wedding style
  • Learning 2-3 special request songs

Additional options include DJ services, additional musicians, extended hours, and rehearsal dinner performances.
